Big ACL uses a dedicated Identity Provider (IdP) available at https://idp.big-acl.com to manage user authentication and account lifecycle events.

This page explains how to register for an account using either a social login provider (Google or GitHub) or a traditional email-and-password flow.

The Big ACL Identity Provider supports two registration methods:

  1. Social login
Authenticate using your existing Google or GitHub account. This method eliminates password management and leverages the security features of the identity provider (MFA policies, device checks, etc.).

  2. Email and password
Create a standalone Big ACL account by providing a valid email address and a password.

Both methods give access to the Big ACL Console and related services, and both require verification steps to ensure account integrity.

You may choose to sign up using:

  • Google
  • GitHub
  1. Select Continue with Google or Continue with GitHub.
  2. You are redirected to the selected provider’s consent screen.
  3. After successful authentication, the IdP automatically creates a Big ACL account linked to your social identity.
  4. You are then redirected back to Big ACL and granted access.

The IdP retrieves the minimal set of user attributes required to create the account:

  • Email address
  • Full name (if provided by the social provider)
  • Profile identifier for account linking
  • No password to manage.
  • Uses the provider’s strong authentication capabilities.
  • Faster onboarding.

If you prefer not to use a social login, you may create a standalone account.

  1. Select Create account with email.
  2. Provide your email address.
  3. Choose a password meeting platform requirements:
    • At least 10 characters
    • At least one uppercase letter
    • At least one number
  4. Submit the form.

A verification email is sent to the address you provided.
You must click the verification link before your account becomes active.

Regardless of the registration method, Big ACL applies the following baseline security measures:

  • Enforced email verification
  • Mandatory TLS for all IdP interactions
  • Optional multi-factor authentication (MFA)
  • Automatic detection of compromised credentials (password-based accounts)

For social login, the security posture is inherited from the provider (Google or GitHub), but Big ACL may apply additional security checks.

  • Check your spam folder.
  • Ensure your email server is not blocking messages from big-acl.com.
  • Request a new verification link from the login page.
  • Ensure you have allowed Big ACL to access your basic profile information.
  • Confirm that your social provider account is active and not subject to security restrictions.
  • Try using the alternative provider or the email-based flow.
